Reading for Excellence Program
CAC’s “Reading for Excellence” program began with one local school raising money for an orphanage library by challenging the children to get sponsored to read as many books as possible in a set time frame. The program has been so successful that now three Canadian schools are raising money to provide books for four orphanages in the contaminated region of Belarus. The Chausy Orphanage now boasts the finest library in the region! These books allow the children not only the opportunity for research in school but also the ability to read for enjoyment and escape.
A spin-off of this program has been the discovery of the joy of reading by many Canadian students.
